So how do you stop stalling and start producing? Here’s how real estate agents can beat procrastination and take control.
1. Get Clear on Priorities
Many agents procrastinate because they don’t know what to do next. Between prospecting, showings, paperwork, and client management, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. The fix? Ruthless prioritization. Every morning, list your top three revenue-generating tasks and tackle those first. Hint: scrolling the MLS or organizing your inbox isn’t one of them. Following up with leads? That’s money on the table.
2. Use Time Blocks, Not To-Do Lists
To-do lists feel productive but often lead to bouncing between tasks without focus. Instead, block time for specific activities—cold calls from 9-10 AM, listing updates from 10-11, showings in the afternoon. Protect those blocks like appointments with clients. Motivation isn’t a constant. But if you reconnect with why you’re in real estate—freedom, income, family, legacy—you can fuel action even on tough days. Write down your “why” and keep it visible. When you feel the urge to procrastinate, look at it. Remind yourself what’s at stake.
